Recruiting students – Iidabashi School Teacher Mr. Sato

2017/03/15

I work in the International projects department, which is the department that recruits students from overseas. I make a tour to each county several times a year to hold a presentation about the school and interview candidates. My main job is to convey the advantages of studying in Japan, and get the students to choose ARC over the other Japanese language school. I have talked to several hundred students but for the students, meeting with me is their first contact with a Japanese language school. In this sense, I have a responsibility to represent the school and it is a very challenging job. I feel very happy when I meet students whom I met in their countries at the Enrollment Ceremony.

I think a special characteristic of ARC Academy is our diversity. Students are from all over the world. They can also choose a school from the different big cities like Shibuya, Shinjuku, Yokohama, Osaka and Kyoto. We also prepare all kinds of programs to satisfy your different objectives such as education advancement and job hunting in Japan, and interacting with Japanese people. In other words, ARC Academy opens our doors to all types of students who want to study Japanese, and provide study programs which match each person.

With the nature of my job, I get to know very thoroughly and feel everyday what international students want from a Japanese language school. I relay to the register and student affairs the demands of students to meet their needs. I never forget that the school exists because there are students. I persist to do all I can with limited economic resources to raise customer satisfaction.

I often get questions about how we recruit the students when I am overseas. The most effective process is in fact introduction by word of mouth of students and graduates. Good schools will naturally attract with good students. The feedback I get from overseas recruitment concerns opinions about the school. What gives rise to good economic and educational cycles at the school is the care we give students everyday and the our motivation to continue building a better school.
